March 2013. Rapid Identification Survey. HA 42.
An oval hollow with brick wall on the upper part of its southern side. The hollow is around 2.2m deep with gently sloping sides, except where the wall is present (where the upper part of the side is vertical). It has a concave base.
The wall is built of brick with stone capping and one possible buttress on the south. Nine courses (up to 0.8m high) are visible in the wall. The possible buttress is at least 0.65m long and 0.4m wide with five visible courses. The bricks are red and pinky red in colour and measure 0.23 by 0.105 by 0.055m. The capping stones vary in size but are 0.06m thick.
The hollow is shown on (S1). It may have been created as a garden feature within a plantation at Lynford Park (NHER 30470) and associated with the 18th/19th century Lynford Hall (NHER 5138).
D. Robertson (HES), 10 July 2015.

May 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A hollow of probable post-medieval date is seen as an earthwork on visualised lidar data (S2).
This earthwork has not been transcribed separately - the transcription has been recorded as part of NHER 30470 along with further features relating to Lynford Park and Gardens identified from the Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) survey. The mapped extent of this existing HER record has however been amended to correlate with the location and extent of the feature on the lidar imagery [1].
J.Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 14 May 2019. Amended H. Hamilton (HES), 2 February 2021.
