Full Description
April 2013. Rapid Identification Survey. HA 50.
A oval hollow, measuring 8m by 6m by up to 0.5m deep. The origin and purpose of this feature is uncertain, but it may have been a shallow quarry for sand and gravel.
D. Robertson (HES), 10 July 2015.
August 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A small hollow of an unknown date is seen as an earthwork on visualised lidar data (S1). The small hollow may have related to a post-medieval extraction pit or a modern feature and is not seen on the historic maps consulted as part of this project (S2-S4). The pit is in close proximity to Lynford Park and gardens to the west (NHER 30470). The mapped extent of the site has been amended to correlate with the location and extent of the feature on the lidar imagery [1].
J.Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 1 August 2019.
