Summary

Outbuilding behind 26 Bridge Street. Substantially altered in recent times but potentially an early 19th-century stable or servants block. There is reused masonary in its southern wall, including a reset stone cross of possible Late Saxon date.

Building examined during evaluation of nearby site (NHER 40942).
Has the appearance of an early 19th-century stable or servants block, although there are no obvious scars for large openings. It is apparently fully cellared.
Re-used masonry in the southern wall of this building was found to include a reset stone cross. This cross appears to be the top of a cross shaft and may date to the Late Saxon period.
