Summary

A large irregularly shaped hollow. It was probably excavated as a quarry for sand and gravel, which may have then been used in the construction of estate roads and buildings.

April 2015. Field visit.
A large irregularly shaped hollow, with an irregular base. Located in the east of a plantation, southwest of Thurgarton Old Hall. It appears to cut two wood banks to the west (NHER 61030).
The hollow was probably excavated as a quarry for sand and gravel, which may have then been used in the construction of estate roads and buildings.
