Map

July-August 2011. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of new housing development.
Within an area of undated, medieval and post-medieval cropmark features (NHER 45107).
This work revealed several early medieval ditches and pits. Later medieval finds were limited to a single 14th/15th century brick fragment and a single Late Medieval Transitional pottery sherd.
All other features and deposits identified were of probable post-medieval or modern date. These included masonry remains containing bricks of 17th-century date that were probably the remains of a building depicted at this location on 19th-century cartographic sources. A ditch that probably marked the boundary of this property was also identified.
