Map

Pre August 1988. Fieldwalking.
In 1988 staff at the Norwich Castle Museum were shown objects that had been recovered by [1] during fieldwalking in Alderford. These finds included:
1 Late Saxon pottery sherd (Thetford-type ware).
Medieval pottery sherds (unglazed and glazed).
Medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds (LMT).
Post-medieval pottery sherds (various fabrics) and clay tobacco pipe fragments.
Identified by W. Milligan (NCM). See brief notes in file.
Unfortunately the location of this work does not appear to have been recorded. The finder is however reported to have recovered medieval pottery sherds close to Church Farm around the same time (NHER 23815) so it is possible that these unprovenanced finds were also recovered in this area (or were actually the same finds).
P. Watkins (HES), 5 November 2015.
