Summary

The building here dates to the early 16th century building. It has a timber framed front and back. The building plan was destroyed when large 19th and 20th century rear extensions were added and it was raised to three storeys. A post medieval well is associated the property and this has yielded a number of contemporary artefacts including lots of clay pipes.

This building is amongst those noted in thesis (S3), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. Early 16th century building. It is described as a long building of early 16th-century date with timber-framed walls front and back. The second floor is a later addition and the original plan of the building was lost when large 19th- and 20th-century rear extensions were added. It is dated by the timber framing and a tie-beam with evidence for a former queen-post roof.
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 24 January 2018.
