Map

March 2016. Metal-detecting. [1].
Medieval lead seal matrix.
Information from PAS import.
During the metal-detecting a scatter of aluminium pieces, possible hydraulic pipe connectors, 0.5 inch Browning ammunition and broken cartridges were recovered from the south-west corner of the field (Context 1). The condition of the ammunition suggests that it was destroyed rather than fired from a weapon. This could represent an air crash site or the destruction of an ammunition store associated with other World War Two activity on the site. The field is known as 'Searchlight Field'.
