In 1999 metal-detecting at an unknown location in Needham recovered an important Late Saxon stylus and several medieval objects.

Found in Needham by [1] but exact location not reported:
1 Late Saxon stylus.
1 medieval horse harness pendant.
Pig bones of probable late post-medieval or modern date were also recovered.
Stylus identified by T. Pestell (NCM), pendant by H. Geake (NCM) and animal bones by T. Ashwin (NAU). See descriptions in file [2].

Additional material recovered by [1]. Found in "stylus field":
1 medieval mount and 1 buckle.

Found "close to stylus":
1 medieval belt plate and 1 pellet bell.
1 undatable scrap of decorated copper alloy sheet.
