Summary

Metal-detecting on the lands of Manor Farm, Larling during and prior to 1995 recovered a range of objects, although the exact locations of these discoveries were not recorded. These finds included a Bronze Age spearhead fragment; an Iron Age disc; Roman brooches and box/furniture fitting; a possible Roman lead steelyard weight; Middle Saxon strap ends and pins; Late Saxon hooked tags, mount and bridle fittings; a Late Saxon/medieval balance pan; various medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval harness pendants and mounts, dagger chape, rumbler bell, skillet leg, iron keys and lead seal matrix; medieval/post-medieval lead weights and post-medieval spurs, harness mounts, thimbles, cistern tap and lead cloth seals.

Found on lands of Manor Farm, Larling but exact provenances not recorded (farmhouse at TL 9810 8922):
1 Bronze Age socketed spearhead fragment (S1).
1 Iron Age copper alloy disc (?mount/?top of pommel).
4 Roman brooches and 1 box/furniture knob.
1 ?Roman copper alloy finger ring and 1 lead steelyard weight.
1 ?Early Saxon boss (S2).
2 Middle Saxon strap ends and 2 pin heads.
2 Late Saxon hooked tags, 1 suspension ring, 1 finger ring, 1 Ringerike-style mount (S3), 1 Ringerike-style bridle mount (S4) and 1 bridle cheek piece fragment (S5). See also rubbings (S6).
1 ?Late Saxon bridle cheek piece fragment and 1 decorated copper alloy plate.
1 Late Saxon/medieval balance pan.
27 medieval buckles, 1 belt mount, 2 belt hasps, 1 ?belt attachment plate, 3 strap ends, 4 ring brooches, 1 harness pendant, 1 harness pendant mount, 1 harness pendant attachment plate, 1 harness hook, 1 harness fitting, 3 harness mounts, 1 dagger chape, 1 rumbler bell, 10 rings, 1 copper alloy skillet leg, 2 iron keys, 1 lead seal matrix and 2 lead discs.
1 ?medieval ring and 1 unidentified object (?washer/?boss).
27 medieval/post-medieval lead weights.
6 post-medieval buckles, 1 pin, 1 hooked tag, 1 spur rowel, 2 spur fragment, 3 harness mounts, 1 binding ring, 4 thimbles, 1 ?thimble, 1 cistern tap and 2 lead cloth seals.
