Full Description
22 September 2016. Systematic metal-detecting survey. [1].
Finds recorded on the PAS database:
1 Roman coin.
Medieval buckle and strap fitting.
Medieval/post-medieval mount.
Information from PAS import.
Finds not recorded on the PAS website:
113 unrecorded finds were recovered including a large collection of lead fragments. Amongst this collection of lead were undatable fragments of folded sheet, window came fragments and a decorated octagonal disk, possibly a gaming piece or token and post-medieval cast musket or pistol balls and a whirligig toy. The undated lead sheet fragments, lead debris and fragments of window came possibly relate to the dismantling and dissolution of Pentney Priory (NHER 3924).
The finds were recovered evenly from across the site but with slightly more in the southern half of the field.
