Summary

In 2014 various groundworks were monitored during the installation of new sewerage pipes along Mill Lane. No archaeologically significant remains were observed. It was clear that the construction of the modern road had resulted in the truncation of underlying deposits.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with the Great Ellingham sewerage scheme.
The monitored excavations included two drill pits and lateral connections trial holes, drill pits, lateral connections. No archaeologically significant features or deposits were identified. Tarmac and hardcore deposits lay directly above the natural geology, suggesting the construction of the modern road had resulted in at least a degree of truncation to the underlying deposits.
