Map

March-April 2017. Casual Observation. [1].
A pit was observed in an exposed area of earth found at the site during metal-detecting. Subsequent investigation of the feature revealed it was cut into natural with a base approximately 0.9m below the current ground surface. 57 Early Neolithic pottery sherds were recovered from an exposed burnt fill at the base of the pit. The large size and good condition of the sherds is consistent with a closed context rather than a scatter or midden. The pottery sherds are likely from Early Neolithic Plain bowls, and the rim sherds suggest at least 3 vessels were present.
