Map

February 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The cropmarks and earthworks of enclosures and fields of unknown, but possibly late prehistoric to Roman date, are visible on historic aerial photographs (S1-S4) and to a lesser extent on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S5). Finds of prehistoric and Roman date have been found in the vicinity (NHER 28199 and NHER 34166). See NHER 61516 for possible banks and boundaries contemporary to this site.
It must be noted that the cropmarks of the eastern part of the site are hard to confidently define due to linear patterned ground. Further elements may be present. The earthworks relating to the western part of the site are also quite ephemeral and appear differently on the sources (S1-S4).
Additional possible earthworks may be visible on the lidar (S5), but have not been mapped as it is suspected that some features relate to relatively recent activity and it must be noted that only slight traces of the earthworks recorded from the historic aerial photographs are clearly visible. Further inspection on the ground would be required to establish any survival of features.
