Summary

The slight earthworks of possible enclosure and boundary ditches and banks of uncertain date are visible on historic aerial photographs and the 0.5m resolution Lidar data. See adjacent NHER 61516 and NHER 61573 for similar possible boundaries. However it must be noted that some tree clearance/felling activity between April 1945 and July 1946 could account for some of these earthworks.

Map

February 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The slight earthworks of possible enclosures and boundaries ditches and banks of uncertain date are visible on historic aerial photographs (S1-S2) and the 0.5m resolution Lidar data (S3). Due to site lying entirely outside of the current project are these earthworks have not been mapped, rather their presence is noted. See adjacent NHER 61516 and NHER 61573 for similar possible boundaries. However it must be noted that some tree clearance/felling activity between April 1945 (S4) and July 1946 (S1) could account for some of these earthworks.
S. Horlock (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 24 February 2017.

August 2020. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
See NHER 63638 for earthworks recorded around Mount Ephraim, and partially across this area, by Stage 2 of the project. No other earthworks of archaeological significance were identified within this site, but the area is quite disturbed and it is possible that the aerial sources were not sufficiently clear to allow further features to be recognised.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 7 August 2020.
