Summary

Trial trenching and monitoring of the route of a proposed power cable between 2008 and 2010 uncovered evidence of a subsoil dating to the medieval period as well as two ditches and a pit of undetermined date.

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trenches 11-13).
The three trenches excavated at this location revealed two ditches and a pit, none of which produced any dating evidence.
The subsoil present was regarded as evidence of medieval open-field-type agriculture.

2009-2010. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping and other groundworks associated with installation of the Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable.
It appears that no additional features were observed during this phase of work.
Several medieval artefacts were apparently recovered from subsoil deposits, including two coins.
Previously recorded under NHER 51432.
