Summary

An area of boundary banks and possible cultivation and/or plantation ridges is visible on the 0.5m resolution Lidar data at this location. Several faint areas of parallel ridges can be discerned on the lidar, predominantly within the framework of the boundary banks. Earthworks similar to this have tentatively been interpreted as possible ridge and furrow, cultivation or plantation ridges, potentially of post-medieval date and related to episodic and short lived expansion of agriculture onto the poorer land. However it is possible that these ridges relate to twentieth century or earlier forestry activity.
