Map

July 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A broad, sub-rectangular ditch of unknown date is visible as an earthwork on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015 (S1), and also (less clearly) on aerial photographs (such as S2-S3). It could be a boundary ditch, perhaps even part of an enclosure. As such, it could perhaps relate to Roman or medieval settlement in the area (NHER 32589, NHER 35352 and NHER 61993 for example), or even represent a Roman camp. Alternatively, it lies close to the Little Ouse, and could represent a former channel, whether natural or man-made. Another possibility is that it has another, non-archaeological, origin. Possible traces of internal features may be visible on the aerial photographs, but these are poorly defined and of uncertain significance, so they have not been mapped.
