This milestone is one of a series of milestones in the Norfolk section of the Cambridge, Ely and Downham Market turnpike, which was created in 1762, linking Cambridge, Ely and Soham, before being extended in 1770 to Littleport and Downham Market.

2012-2013. Maintenance work by the Milestone Society.
One of the 60 milestones restored to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, see publication (S2).
Milestone Society members recovered the milestone from private property to be restored. A replacement plinth was added to restore the marker to its original height. The whitewash paint was removed then repainted. The marker was manually installed close to its original position and a French drain was dug.
