Summary

Former house of 18th-century date, now shops. The rear wall of this three-storey building incorporates the front wall of an earlier, 16th-century building. The other surviving walls of this late medieval structure now form a yard behind the 18th-century building.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Former house now shops. 18th century with 16th-century rear wall. Rendered. Flint with brick dressings rear wall. Pantile roof. Set back from and parallel to the street- line. Three storeys with two storey lean-to extension on left-side. Two widely spaced second floor windows."

February 1978. Building Survey.
Examined as part of Norwich Survey.
Late 18th-century three-storey building built and heightened off 17th-century building which survives to two storeys on south wall only. The west wall was built against the east gable of an earlier building. The north wall has timber studs with brick infill above a ?stone plinth.

Recorded by Royal Commission.
This survey defined and described the surviving remains of a now roofless and floorless late medieval building that lay to the north of the three-storey later building. The remains of the medieval building now serve as a yard to the 18th-century building, with only the north and west walls surviving to any height.

The earlier building to the rear of 8-10 Pottergate is amongst those included in thesis (S4), which considers the 13th- to 17th-century buildings of Norwich. It is recorded that only three of its flint rubble walls were standing, forming a yard behind the 18th-century building.
