Map

February 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
An area of earthworks, drainage ditches and boundaries, including an area of post medieval floated water meadows, are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S5) and Environment Agency 1m resolution lidar data (S6).
The water meadows, are bisected by the railway embankment. Some of the main network of carrier channels are depicted on the 1839 Weeting with Bromehill Tithe map (S7). The individual drains have also not been mapped individually, rather the blocks or ‘panes’ of drains and beds are mapped by extent. To the west of the water meadows are a series of major channels, potentially also of post medieval date, although an earlier date is feasible given the level of medieval and Roman activity in the area. To the east of the water meadows are a series of more fragmentary banked and ditched earthworks - the date of which are uncertain – however given the shared alignment with the water meadow system a similar date might be most likely.
