Map

April 2014. Desk-based Assessment.
Assessment of proposed development site.
Historic mapping suggests that the plot containing Marsh House dates from the enclosure act of 1810 and was not subdivided until the school was constructed in the mid to late 20th century.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2018.

February 2016. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
The four trenches excavated revealed no archaeologically significant features.
Made-ground deposits of coarse sand were found to seal a relatively thin buried soil layer which lay direct above natural blue grey/orange brown silty clay deposits interpreted as marine clays. It is suggested that this deposit sequence indicates the site was most likely an area of salt marsh until relatively recently.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S2) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2016.267).
P. Watkins (HES), 16 April 2018. Amended 21 June 2019.
