Summary

A standard Type 22 pillbox survives at this location. This pillbox formed part of a ring of defences around this crossroads which included a ring of anti-tank obstacles (NHER 30787), a second pillbox (NHER 62734), a spigot mortar emplacement (NHER 62736), a gun emplacement (NHER 30788), and a Home Guard shelter (NHER 62735).

Standard Type 22 pillbox. Most bricks falling off. A few screw pickets still in hedge. [1]

February 1999. Field Observation.
The pillbox remains in good condition. The outer brick shell survives to a height of 40cm above ground level. The ground level drops near the doorway, where the outer bricks survive to a height of 78cm. The door has been removed, but a metal ring remains on the western side of the door frame.
