Village Road Sign
One of 28 surviving 1921 Ministry of Transport style Place Name Signs.
This sign is lozenge-shaped and is divided horizontally in three sections. The top, triangular section is occasionally used to indicate which road the sign is positioned on, however it is blank on this sign. The middle, rectangular section contains the name of the town the sign is for, and this sign reads “TAVERHAM/PLEASE/DRIVE SLOWLY”. The bottom, triangular section is used to display the authority that is responsible for the upkeep of the sign and reads “NORFOLK C. C.”.
These signs were manufactured by the Royal Label Factory in Stratford Upon Avon. This sign still retains its original post, which bears the company name.
