Summary

A Rapid Identification Survey undertaken in 2012 identified three large depressions at this location, at least two of which are likely to represent the remains of former extraction pits.

Archaeological Earthwork Rapid Identification Survey within Sir John's Belt (Compartments 5 and 7).
Two large depressions identified at this location are throught to be former extraction pits; one at TF 9023 4237 (Site 10) with a diameter of 50m and another at TF 9038 4235 (Site 11) that measures c.50m by 30m. A third large depression at TF 9011 4247 (Site 12) is possibly a remnant of a part-infilled pit but is thought to be more likely a natural feature.
