Summary

A watching brief maintained during the installation of a new water main between 2005 and 2006 recorded a brick structure of probable late post-medieval or modern date. This was interpreted as a probable field drain or soakaway.

Monitoring of topsoil stripping and trenching for Harleston to Gissing replacement water main.
A brick structure interpreted as a drain or soakaway was observed at this location during the excavation of the pipe trench. The form of the bricks suggested that it was of probable 19th- or early 20th-century date.
