Full Description
February 2018. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
Three intercutting ditches in one of the trenches were the only archaeologically significant features observed. These were aligned roughly north-north-west to south-south-east and produced a single sherd of medieval pottery and a small amount of animal bone. Although these features are therefore not closely dated it should be noted that no corresponding boundaries can be seen on the more readily available later 19th-century maps of the site.
No subsoil was present, with the topsoil lying directly above the clay sand natural deposits.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2018.100).
See report (S1) for further details.
