Full Description
This was the site of Yarmouth General Hospital, which first opened in 1840. It was built on land given by the Corporation and had been funded by public subscription. As noted on a Great Yarmouth and District Archaeological Society plaque marking its location it was demolished and rebuilt on a larger scale in 1888 and integrated into the NHS in 1948. It closed following the opening of the James Paget Hospital in 1981 and the building itself was demolished in 1984.
See photos in file (S1) and architectural drawings held by the Norfolk Record Office (S2).
The blue plaque and its location are recorded by (S3).
