Full Description
February 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Possible ditch features of an unknown date are seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1). The ditch features may be archaeological in origin with the curved ditch at TL 7866 9427 possibly forming part of an enclosure. There is a large amount of geological patterned ground with some agricultural features such a drainage and envelope patterns surrounding the possible ditches. It is therefore possible that these features are the result of geological or agricultural processes; however if these ditches are archaeological in origin, they may date to the Bronze Age, Iron Age or Roman period. There is high concertation of multiperiod find spots (for example NHER 13697, 24530, 24661, 24739) in close proximity to the ditch features which may support the suggested date range.
J.Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 5th February 2019.
