Map

2004-2005. Desk-based Assessment.
Archaeological assessment of western route options for Norwich Northern Distributor Road.
See reports (S1) and (S2) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 July 2019.

March-June 2009. Geophysical Survey
Magnetometer survey on proposed line of the Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Site H10). Area selected for examination due to the comparatively large number of finds recovered during the earlier fieldwalking and the archaeologically significant features visible as cropmarks in the field to the west (NHER 18126).
None of the anomalies detected were of obvious archaeological significance.
A large number of small discrete dipolar anomalies were detected, these almost certainly caused by fired or ferrous debris in the topsoil. A number of weak linear positive anomalies were also identified, although these were most likely the result of modern cultivation practices.
See report (S3) for further details.
Previously recorded under NHER 50497.
P. Watkins (HES), 3 August 2015.

March 2010. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Site H10). Only two of the ten trenches excavated revealed archaeologically significant features. These features two ditches, one of which produced a medieval brick, post-medieval roof tiles and an iron nail. An undated pit or natural feature was the only other feature identified.
See report (S4) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S5).
Previously recorded under NHER 50497.
P. Watkins (HES), 30 July 2015
