Full Description
May 2014-January 2015. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of part of proposed footprint of Norwich Northern Distributor Road and associated works (Area H23).
This survey identified no evidence for archaeologically significant remains.
Although numerous linear and discrete anomalies were detected these were thought to be primarily the result of either modern agricultural practices or changes in the underlying geology. Some anomalies were also probably caused by the presence of modern ferrous debris.
See report (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 14 May 2019.
April-August 2015. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed line of Norwich Northern Distributor Road (Field H23).
Two trenches excavated close to Drayton Lane revealed no archaeologically significant remains.
One of the two possible features investigated proved to be periglacial and the other simply a variation in the geology.
No finds were recovered.
See report (S2) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 7 May 2019.
