Map

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trenches 52).
The single trench excavated at this location revealed a post-medieval ditch. This east-to-west aligned feature produced a fragment of clay tobacco pipe and corresponds with a former field boundary shown on 19th-century maps.
The thin subsoil layer present in this field was seen as evidence for medieval open-field agriculture.
