Summary

Archaeologically work at this site between 2008 and 2010 revealed two poorly-dated ditches. These features, one of which produced a single Roman pottery sherd, were identified during trial trenching in 2008. A watching brief maintained during subsequent groundworks in 2009/2010 recorded no additional archaeologically-significant features or deposits.

September-November 2008. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of site on proposed route of Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable (Trenches 111-113).
The three trenches excavated at this location revealed two north-east to south-west aligned ditches, one of which produced a tiny scrap of Roman pottery.
A medieval coin was recovered from the topsoil.
The subsoil present in this field was seen as evidence for medieval open-field agriculture.

2009-2010. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping and other groundworks associated with installation of the Sheringham Shoals Offshore Windfarm Grid Connection cable.
No archaeologically significant features or deposits exposed and no finds recovered.
Final report awaited. See assessment report (S2) for further details. This work is also noted in (S3).
