Summary

This large double-fronted two-storey grey brick house dates from around 1860. It was part of the late 19th century suburb known as Goodwin's Fields.

Map

(S1) describes this as a big double-fronted detached house, grey brick under hipped roof with two chimneys on central ridge. Big two-storey square bays each side of front entrance, three windows (one main, two subsidiary) wide; corner piers almost like square Doric pilasters with plain entablature on each floor under plain pediment. Central doorway has flat Tuscan Doric pilasters with high bases under a triangular pediment. This house is visible on (S2). (S3) dates the building to around 1860.
