Full Description
May-August 2017. Site visit.
(S1) describes this as an early Victorian brick corner public house on a prominent site close to the South Gates. The Prince of Wales public house was first licenced in 1845 (S2) but is shown on (S3) a year earlier, when it was presumably newly built. It is of brick, now painted, and has a slate roof. The building is roughly square with the south-east corner cut off and very slightly curved. The roof is high pitched, hipped at the corner and the south side, and gabled to the north. It is of three storeys. At ground level there are shop-type windows, on either side of the original door (now converted to a window).
See (S1) for further information. See also (S4).
The building is no longer a public house, it is a restaurant (2019).
A. Cattermole (King's Lynn UAD), 19 June 2019.
