Map

(S1) describes this former public house as having been altered drastically, but basic structure intact. Doorway round-headed and stepped. The walls have been rendered since at least the 1970s, but re-rendering in 2013 showed red brick in English bond underneath. Double pile and shallow half-hipped slate roof. This pre-1840 building must have stood alone on the road for many years.
The building appears on (S2) and the apportionment describes this plot as 'public house, garden and land' belonging to Sir W B Ffolkes.
(S3) suggests that this building was still in use as a public house in 1987, but it is no longer a licenced premises. (S4) records this as 'a good Inn and bowling green called the Spread Eagle'.
