(S1) describes this terrace of red brick cottages as farmworkers' cottages for the home farm of Gaywood Hall (Fairstead Farm (NHER 63471)). According to (S1) these buildings are present on an enclosure map of 1810 and they are certainly visible on the Gaywood Tithe Map of 1838 (S2).
