Map

July 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
A group of possible ditches or trenches, of unknown date, are visible as earthworks and/or vegetation marks on aerial photographs (S1). They were located within a post medieval plantation, Forty Acre Strip, which is shown on historical and modern Ordnance Survey maps. They may have been associated with the establishment or management of this plantation, or could instead represent the remains of earlier features preserved within it. They lack the ‘fresh’ appearance that might be expected if they were 20th century military features. No earthworks could be identified on more recent aerial photographs and lidar imagery, suggesting that any earthworks that did exist have been levelled.
