Map

1977. Listed Grade II.
30-pound cannon, early 19th century. Material indeterminate, possibly cast-iron. Painted black. French. Set into ground as a traffic bollard.
Information from (S1).
A. Cattermole (King's Lynn UAD), 24 July 2019.

18th/19th century cannon formerly stood outside as post, now removed.
This cannon may have been one of a pair that formerly stood in Gaywood Hall drive, and was removed for the Lynn Pagent in 1954. The cannon was listed in its own right and should not have been removed. It was an early 19th century Napoleonic thirty pounder (information from DoE).
See (S2) in file.
E. Rose (NAU), 24 June 1987.

The newspaper article referring to the cannon being removed in 1976 for display in the town centre is confusing. The cannon is clearly still present outside the Exorcist's House in 2019.
A. Cattermole (King's Lynn UAD), 24 July 2019.
