Full Description
July 2019. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The remains of a possible road or boundary bank, probably of post medieval date, are visible as a very low earthwork on visualised lidar data (S1). The earthwork lies to the southeast of Lynford Park (NHER 30470), within the wider area to the south of the park defined by tree belts (see NHER 63350). The earthwork could represent a former road or drive approaching the park, or a former boundary bank. If it is associated with Lynford Park or hall, then a post medieval date seems likely; it is notable that at its southern end, its alignment is continued by boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S2). As the lidar survey was flown relatively recently (2015), it is likely that the earthwork still survives, although it may be too low and poorly defined to be readily identifiable on the ground.
