Full Description
January 2020. Breckland National Mapping Programme.
Undated, possibly post medieval or modern, pits, a C-shaped ditch and a possible mound are visible as crop- and soilmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S3). Like the features recorded as NHER 63619 230m to the north, they could feasibly be post medieval or modern extraction and/or agricultural features. There are also numerous geological cropmarks in the area, so a geomorphological origin for some or all of the features is also possible. At the same time, there is also a record of a Neolithic flint mine in the area (NHER 5000 106m to the south), but there is no supporting evidence to suggest a Neolithic date for these features.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 20th January 2020.
