Summary

World War One memorial, with World War Two and late 20th-century additions. It is constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, polished, square pillar. This memorial was erected to commemorate twenty-six local servicemen who died in World War One, seven casualties from World War Two, and latterly a single casualty from a late 20th century conflict. In 2014 the memorial was renovated, with the lettering renewed. The memorial was Listed Grade II in October 2017.

Location: All Saints Churchyard, Church Street, Horsford.
Type: Pillar
Description: The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, polished, square pillar. It is used to commemorate twenty-six servicemen from the parish who died in World War One, seven casualties from World War Two, and latterly a single casualty from a late 20th century conflict. On top, there is a two-tiered pyramidal cap with “a band of roll moulding just below the cap", with the pillar described as rising "from a square plinth with moulded cap upon a single-step chamfered base” (S1). A narrow stone block forms the foundation. There are inscriptions on inset rough-finished sections in leaded lettering, painted black. The former World War One dedication is on the south face of the lower-tier of the pyramidal cap (Inscription A), with twenty-six assoicated names listed to the upper south and west faces of the pillar. The World War Two dates (Inscription B) are to the lower west face, with seven associated names below. The latter 20th century conflict dedication (Inscription C) is on the east face of the pyramidal cap, along with a single name to pillar below. Further inscriptions can be found along the south face of the plinth (Inscription D), and to the base (Inscription E). In 2014 the memorial was renovated, with the lettering renewed.
