Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, polished, wheel-head cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate twenty-eight local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly three casualties who died in World War Two. At some time after 1933 the churchyard wall in front was lowered. The memorial was Listed Grade II in October 2017.

Location: St Mary and St Andrew's Churchyard, Church Street, Horsham St Faith and Newton St Faith.
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description: The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, wheel-head cross. It is used to commemorate twenty-eight local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly three casualties from World War Two. It is described as a “tall, polished grey granite wheel-head cross rising from a four-sided, tapering plinth with moulded cap”, that “surmounts a square, stone base” (S1). There are inscriptions on the plinth in leaded lettering. The former World War One dedication is on the south face (Inscription A), with twenty-eight names below and continuing to the east and west faces. A latter dated World War Two (Inscription B) is on the west face with three names below it. At some time after 1933 the churchyard wall in front was lowered, allowing for the memorial to be viewed from the road.
