Full Description
May 1998. Casual Observation. [1].
At north end of field, west of farm buildings.
Pot boiler site exposed during excavation work in advance of construction a new building. Burnt material and flints approximately 0.20m thick exposed above sand subsoil and 0.5m of topsoil (S1). Further calcined flints noted in spoil heap. At bottom of 2 deepest stanchion bases on west side, north corner, wood fragments were found but not kept.
Site extends further west into field due to visibility in bank at edge of excavation.
Sample of filling (black soil, burnt flint) retained at NLA.
