Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross. This memorial was erected to commemorate twelve local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly three men who died in World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in November 2017.

Location: St Peter's Churchyard, Little Ellingham.
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross. It is used to commemorate twelve local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly three men who died in World War Two. It is situated on a three-stepped base, where there are “inscriptions and names on smooth, inset panels in leaded lettering” (S1). The former World War One dedication (Inscription A) is to the south face of the upper step. Listed underneath are five names on the middle step, with seven names and remaining dedication (Inscription B) on the bottom step. The latter World War Two dedication and three names (Inscription C) are on the east face of the upper step.
