Summary

In 1962 a human skeleton was discovered, 0.9m under the floor level of this area. A wall had been built, cutting the remains in half, and on the other side of this a rubbish pit with 17th and 18th century pottery was recorded. A square well of flint and brick, possibly dating to the 15th or 16th centuries was also noted, as were a number of animal bones.

1962. King Street, west side. 150-164 King Street.
Human skeleton found 3ft (0.9m) under floor level of building lying on right-hand side in yellow clay. The legs were cut off when a wall was built. On the other side of the wall was a rubbish pit with 17th and 18th century glazed pottery. Animal bones. A square well of flint and brick at least 6ft (1.8m) ?15th-16th century. [1]
