World War One Memorial with World War Two Additions
Location: The churchyard, St Clement's Church, Church Terrace, Outwell.

Description:
The memorial is constructed from granite, in the form of a freestanding, polished, Latin cross. It is used to commemorate thirty-five members of local community who died in World War One, and latterly twelve men who died in World War Two. It is described as “standing on a tall, rough-hewn granite pillar. The pillar is raised on a two-stepped base and surrounded by low, sloping granite blocks with polished upper surfaces, all bounded by eight low granite posts connected by chains” (S1). There are inscriptions and names on cast bronze plaques. To the front face of the pillar there are two consecutive plaques. The upper most is associated with World War One, has four draped flags and a crown incorporated into the casting at the top, thirty-five names, followed by an Inscription (A). The lower plaque records the additional twelve World War Two names. With one exception, all the names reside along with regiment or Service, and date of death. To the rear face of the pillar there are a further two plaques. The upper most has the former World War One dedication (Inscription B), and the lower has the latter World War Two dates (Inscription C).
