Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from grey granite in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross approximately 2m tall. This memorial was unveiled 04 September 1921 to commemorate seven members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly three men who died in World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in April 2018.

Location: The churchyard, All Saint's Church, Church Road, Postwick.
Type: Wheel-head Cross
Description:
The memorial is constructed from grey granite, in the form of a freestanding, rough-hewn, wheel-head cross approximately 2m tall. It is used to commemorate seven members of the local community who died in World War One, and latterly three men who died in World War Two. It is described as “standing on a tapering plinth. The plinth is raised on a granite step, square on plan, on a concrete foundation” (S1). There are inscriptions applied in metal lettering. The former World War One dedication (Inscription A) is to the west face of the plinth, with the seven associated names to the front face. At the foot of the memorial, the latter World War Two dates, and three associated names (Inscription B) are recorded on a small granite tablet.

Unveiled: 04 September 1921 (by Lt-Col Lord Dalmeny DSO MC; one of the commemorated was his brother).
Inscription A: TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN/ MEMORY OF THOSE WHO/ GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR/ THIS COUNTRY IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918.
Inscription B: 1939 - 1945/ (3 NAMES).
