Summary

World War One memorial with World War Two additions, constructed from Portland stone in the form of a freestanding Latin cross. This memorial was unveiled 31 October 1920 to commemorate thirteen local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly six men who died in World War Two. The memorial was Listed Grade II in May 2018.

Location: Churchyard of the Church of St George, Fleggburgh Road, Rollesby.
Type: Latin Cross
Description:
The memorial is constructed from Portland stone, in the form of a freestanding Latin cross. It is used to commemorate thirteen local servicemen who died in World War One, and latterly six men who died in World War Two. It is described as 4.2m tall with “octagonal sides, atop an octagonal shaft with moulded collar and foot, standing on a four-sided plinth with similarly moulded foot, atop a five-tiered circular stepped base that is 2.7m in diameter at the bottom” (S1). There is an inscription on the plinth in incised lettering.
