The memorial is constructed from limestone, in the form of a 3m freestanding Latin cross on a collared shaft. It is described as on "a square plinth, atop a pentagonal two-tiered base, the lower tier being deep with cornice and moulded foot” (S1). There was an inscription and names (Original Inscription) on the plinth in incised lettering.

1998. Restoration.
Degradation to the monument from environmental elements, including sea salt in the air, meant that the original inscriptions on the monument became nearly illegible. Following a £200 grant from War Memorials Trust the memorial was restored in 1998 (S6). The plinth was replaced with Clipsham stone and the inscription incised to include the later additions. The 1998 inscription is the inscription still extant on the monument and now reads:
TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF SALTHOUSE/ WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES/ DURING TWO WORLD WARS/ AND IN KOREA/ THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE// 1914 – 1918/ (NAMES)// 1939 – 1945/ (NAMES)/ KOREA 1950 – 53/ (NAME).
The original plaques commemorating the World War Two and Korean dead were retained and placed in St Nicholas' Church (NHER 6238). See Historic England Advice Report (S2) for further details.
P. Beers (HES), 24 April 2020. Amended A. Henderson (HES), 14 January 2025.
June 2018. Listed. Grade II.
